The challenge

No certified receipt, no trading

Treatwell runs booking, payments, POS and daily operations for thousands of salons across Europe. For partners on the POS, the checkout is the business, and it is one of the reasons they stay.

Then the rules changed. A new fiscal regime requires POS systems to generate and report receipts through a certified provider. A salon that cannot issue a legally valid receipt cannot keep trading on Treatwell’s POS.

That put every active POS partner in scope, with roughly two and a half months to a compliant MVP and no room to move the date. Competing platforms were already selling compliant alternatives.

Miss the deadline and partners would have to switch providers simply to stay open.

What we did

One module beside the POS, not inside it

We worked with Treatwell and Fiskaly on an approach that could roll out across the whole POS base without touching daily operations or partner revenue. The POS core stayed as it was.

01

Set the certified route

With Fiskaly as certified provider, we established what the regime demands per receipt and what that means for the POS.

02

Build a separate module

A dedicated fiscalization module captures transaction and receipt data from the POS and carries the fiscal obligation on its own.

03

Keep the rules in one place

Region and business type decide what a valid receipt looks like. The module applies those rules and submits for certification and reporting through Fiskaly.

04

Ship inside the window

The compliant MVP went live within the regulatory deadline. No retraining for salon staff and no change to how they take payments.

The result

Salons kept trading. Nothing changed at the counter.

Treatwell supports POS partners under the new regime without interrupting their ability to trade. Support teams activate partners themselves, so onboarding no longer waits on engineering, and the same pattern is there for the next market that regulates.

What we delivered

First compliant, then durable

The MVP met the deadline. The phase after it made the solution something Treatwell can operate, including retroactive reporting for partners who join late.

Fiscalization module

Decoupled from the POS core. Captures the data, applies the rules, submits through Fiskaly.

Self-service activation

Support teams switch a partner to compliant receipts themselves. No engineering ticket.

Region-aware error handling

Retry logic that follows what each region expects when the provider cannot be reached.

Monitoring and audit trails

Alerting on fiscal events, and a trail per receipt for when someone asks.

Nikola Dragaš, Brighting

“A salon owner shouldn't have to learn compliance to do their job. So we didn't put it anywhere near the counter — it runs in its own module, and the point of sale works exactly like it always has.”

What we brought

A team inside the team, and a provider that certifies

We work in Treatwell’s squads, on Treatwell’s roadmap. On this one we also owned the deadline.
