Stock the system was sure of, and the shelf was not
HEMA wanted stock accuracy to be improved. Inventory data did not match what was on the shop floor, so products were out of stock while the system said otherwise.
Store teams absorbed the difference. Counting, checking, looking for items that were recorded but not there. Time that does not go into serving customers.
The same data feeds the omnichannel promise. Click and collect, store pick, online availability: all of it rests on knowing what a store really holds.
And beyond availability, HEMA wanted the numbers to steer store layouts, assortments and replenishment.
One integration service between the tags and the systems
We built a serverless RFID Integration Service on AWS that connects Nedap’s RFID platform to HEMA’s own systems. RFID does the counting in the store. The service turns those counts into stock HEMA can act on.
Track the product, not the paperwork
RFID gives real-time product tracking in the store. The first job was making that signal usable next to the store systems already in place.
Build the service serverless
A serverless integration service on AWS, split into microservices. It scales with the rollout instead of being sized for it up front.
Make the gap visible
Expected stock and counted stock rarely agree. The service keeps discrepancy lists, so store teams work from the difference instead of recounting everything.
